This is a fascinating, smartly written book that bridges psychology, medicine, science, and veterinary and (human) medical practices and treatment. With extensive research backing it up, the book shows how meaningful it can be for human doctors to communicate with veterinary doctors (and vice versa) when it comes to treating patients and tackling disease. The stories in the book come from across the globe and across history, making for an utterly entrancing reading of a book that, as filled as it is with facts, is also compulsively readable.

I'd recommend this book to anyone, and feel sure that most readers will even learn something about themselves in diving into it with an open mind. ( )

Interesting, but irritating.

Zoobiquity covers an interesting subject, but lacks something in the execution. The science sections were fairly decently written, but too short. I wish the authors had included more science and more detailed science. With over 100 or so pages of references, they should have been able to discuss some of these topics in more detail.

Some of the anecdotes were interesting and amusing, like the gorilla that had heart surgery - he got his fingernails painted and gum stuck in his fur to keep him from fiddling with the stitches.

However, the science writing kept getting interrupted by overly simplified summaries of what was discussed in the previous 3 or so paragrahs and by jarring, too long references / "comparisons" to USA-pop culture characters. For example, the section on erectile disfunction and horses gets rudely interrupted by a whole paragraph on Elvis Presley's smirk.

''So, in other words," borrow the book from the library before buying it... unless you know nothing about the subject, then this book might just be for you. ( )

Utterly fascinating! Really makes one reconsider how much of what we do is really not unique. ( )

Not a new concept for me -- have been exposed to the one health concept before. Nice presentation for the newcomer though. Well-written, good read, nice coverage of the concept. ( )
