It's not every day a girl inherits a condom company, and to say accountant Alice Beasley is astonished and out of her depth is putting it mildly. For an almost virgin, she needs a quick education in all things condom because her inheritance is in danger. Someone is intent on sabotage and playing nasty, trying to destroy her new company. Alice is suddenly getting down and dirty with charismatic James, the factory manager, all in the name of business, testing new condom designs. The sex is hot. Mind-blowing. It's a dark thrill and an erotic journey. Yeah, it's a hard job, but a girl's got to do what a girl's gotta do. The testing turns personal. Alice wants James. She craves his talented touch and sultry kisses, she desires passion and physical pleasure on a permanent basis but first she must convince bad-boy James to give up his fancy-free ways... Edit
“Fancy Free“, written by Shelley Munro (http://www.shelleymunro.com/) & published by Ellora’s Cave, is the first of four books featuring the ~Fancy Free~ condom company. In this book, Alice learns she has inherited a condom company from her Godmother – and her “almost fiance” is mortified. All Alice has ever wanted in life is financial security so she decides to take a chance and fulfill the six months of work at the company in order to gain her inheritance. While there, she meets James, the factory manager, and has an instant attraction – which is very confusing for her since she considers herself an “almost virgin”. Feeling like Alice in Wonderland, “Fancy Free” is about Alice discovering her sexuality with James while also being terrorized by a Clown & Dog, trying to root out a saboteur at the company, and figure out what REALLY is most important in life.
I found the whole concept of having to test the condoms quite hysterical, along with the comments of how that company in the US – you know, Ellora’s Cave – has expanded their business to include books & toys. (Clever marketing ploy!) Irritating to me about this book were the constant, flagrant references to this Alice being like Alice in Wonderland. I appreciate tongue-in-cheek humor as much as the other person… until it is repeatedly smacking me upside the head. It stopped being clever after the second instance where the author made it an obvious point to verify that the reader had caught the reference to Alice in Wonderland. You wrote it, I got it… now stop trying to hit me over the head with it!
Despite that little bit of crankiness… I really did enjoy this book. When I noticed the publication date was 2008/2009 I did a bit of research — the fourth of these books was recently released in March 2013, which would explain why I was offered a copy in exchange for an HONEST review. Can’t get readers if no one knows the books are there, right?? As I also like to check into – here’s my feedback on pricing. I felt that the (current) pricing on this book is SPECTACULAR. Really. It is well written, there are super hot sex scenes, the “mystery” is intriguing, character development / love story is believable… and it’s over 250 pages. For $1.49 at Amazon. WOW!!! ( )
