This book was either meant to be “cheesy semi-good” or “a term paper written the night before its due.” To explain this book is crazy and all over the place but I also found it slightly entertaining. The mystery is very convoluted and the author doesn’t close up all the loose ends. The books bounces between scenes sometimes very jarringly and it was at times hard to keep up. This book also has one of my least favorite “tropes” which is throughout the whole book everything goes wrong for the main characters until it all magically works out in the end.

I did like the two main characters of Ross and Mo and most of the supporting characters. The setting of Savannah during Saint Patrick’s Day week was excellent because I’ve actually been in Savannah for the holiday and it is truly an experience for folks to see.

I try not to comment on narrators too often because I know I couldn’t do their job but I have to mention that the accents by this narrator were not the best. For one thing, Ross’ accent borders between British and Australian – I couldn’t really get a grasp of which one he was supposed to be. The other issue is that unless it was a main/supporting character – all the Southern characters sounded like stereotypical “dumb hicks” and I wasn’t impressed with those accents either.

I just finished [bc:In Deep Shitake|13616016|In Deep Shitake|Patricia Mason|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1335318722s/13616016.jpg|19217511]and I actually liked it a LOT more than I thought I would. It was like a different take on a Stephanie Plum novel. I love how the author changed the curse words and after reading this I know I would like to touch some asparagus on a hunk.. and no I am not talking the frontal sort. You have to read it to find out! I liked the plot and loved the landlord and liked that the author kept me guessing through the whole book. Many times with a mystery you know who done what. I love the characters. I give very few 4 star reviews but, this one will actually get one! ( )

Only marginally better than fanfic but a fairly good trashy read. Far too many spelling and grammatical errors though, has the author not heard of a proofreader? ( )

What did I think.. How can I describe this?

The book started funny and interesting. It was a 4 star start.

The convention brought down to a 3. I mean the ears? Cut me a break.

By the end of the convention and Mo's place it hit a 2.

At 62% of the way thru the book when she is running around like a 13 year old kid trying to figure out if they are going to have a lasting relationship or not by their names it hit 1. It headed for the negative numbers after that.

The joke about using food in place of swear words gets old fast. By the convention I felt like I wanted to slap her silly and swear myself. It wasn't cute or funny after the first 50 pages. It made her look much more stupid than she actually was. Well the writing make her look much more stupid than she actually was too. It was like someone threw a 13 year old in a woman's body. It had to have been a very nice asparagus if Ross was interested in her. But then Heather would have won psychotic dimwit of the year. Someone really needs to talk to Ross about his choice of women, a 13 year old in a woman's body or an absolute dimwit. Course maybe looks are all that matters to him but Ross, old man, you have to talk to them sometime.

The plot was good but the writer pulled a deus ex machina in the form of a blabber mouth. And the general writing wasn't good enough to carry the plot. The side plot of the murder is solved by the killer walking up to the police and confessing while they all are muddling around like mindless dumb twits? Cut me even bigger break. That is the lazy plotting way out aka "I have no dang clue what a I am doing and if this goes over XXX pages they won't publish it" [big hint they shouldn't have anyway. It was NOT ready for Prime Time]

Someone complained about the sex scenes. I honestly didn't notice them. That's bad. Real bad when a guy doesn't notice a sex scene about a woman who looks like Mo did.

Honestly? It does not even deserve the 1 ( )

Loved it. A hilarious romp. Sort of the Perils of Pauline who's trying to swear off cursing. ( )
