To me, as someone who already had the Oxford editions of Taliessin through Logres and Region of the Summer Stars, the major Arthurian poems Williams published in his lifetime, the great merit of this book is that it includes his earlier Arhurian cycle The Advent of Galahad, including some poems published in his lifetime but in several different places, and some not pubilshed at all before this, as well as fragments of an intended continuation of the Arthurian poems written after the publication of the two canonical books. Critics generally consider the earlier poems inferior to the later ones,but the two cycles have interesting interrelationships which are explored in the introduction to the previously uncollected poems. My rating of 5 is more for its usefulness to the understanding of Williams' Arthurian poems as a whole than my judgment of the quality of the newly published poems. ( )
