This is only 4 stars instead of 5 because I wish it was longer - not because there are any elements missing from the story, but because I really want to know what happens next for these two. Jack is a dedicated delivery driver who seems content with his life. He does his job well, even though sometimes he bends the rules to spend some time with one of his customers who bakes him cookies (and tells him he would be great for her own son). But when he walks in one day on a bit of a situation and finally meets her son, he learns a lot more about him and reveals a lot more about himself than he would have expected. Brilliantly executed, the dynamic between Jack and Allen is wonderful and author writes the face paced story quite well. As I said, the only real drawback is that I want MORE. Highly recommend this one. Zeige 4 von 4 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

Usually I read the blurb, but for some reason I didn’t read this one and even if I had, the blurb doesn’t give a good description of the story. I won’t go into depth, but the book is about Jack and Allen, the son of an older lady that Jack delivers packages to. Turns out Jack isn’t Jack, and Allen isn’t exactly who he says he is either.
This is a suspense/mob story. I’m glad this was a short book because I don’t like mob/gang stories. The action starts immediately and doesn’t let up for the whole book. Gradually it’s revealed who Jack is and how the two men start their ‘relationship.’ The banter between Jack and Allen is non-stop. They are always trying to one up the other and I found it stressful listening to their verbal jousting along with the stressful plot ever since Jack dropped off the packages to the lady’s home.
The author did a good job of gradually revealing more about Jack, but we never really find out much about either of the characters. Both men just give brief footnotes of their backgrounds so I never connected with either of them. If you’re a reader that likes action filled mob stories, you’ll probably like this. Too much tension, non-stop one-upmanship, with not enough character depth and I can only give this book 3 Stars.
