Clifford goes to school with his owner Emily Elizabeth and Clifford being a puppy is curious about everything and of course has the full attention of Emily Elizabeth's classmates. Clifford finger paints, makes cookies and has other misadventures. Clifford's and the big ice cream mess. This story is more about Emily Elizabeth and her friend. Her friend Charles tells his dad that while his dad is away he'll keep on eye on the things. The kids can't figure put how to turn off the ice cream machine and course that becomes a huge problem. CLIFFORD'S FIRST SCHOOL DAY is a slice of life book that portrays a memory of Clifford on his very first day of school. Clifford belongs to a young girl named Emily Elizabeth who is portrayed as a little mother to Clifford. WHen Clifford was a puppy Emily brought him to school for show and tell. He got into paint then got washed up. Next Clifford got into flour and again had to be cleaned up. He was little and therefore Clifford never really got in trouble. The day continued on until the teacher told Emily that it was time for Clifford to go home, and that she could maybe bring him back when he was older. The illustrations in this book are not the TV pictures however they are very bright, colorful, and cartoon like. I would use this book in the classroom for enjoyment or in a preschool setting to talk about curiosity and how Clifford is always getting into things because he is wondering what they are. ( )
