Fifteen years with the Los Angeles Police Department, Mike Graham is a seasoned cop and a damn good training officer. On the brutal streets of LA, he's witnessed every type of crime and taught countless rookies how to survive while they protect and serve. Nothing surprises him anymore. That is, until he meets Nathan York. Nathan York shouldn't be a cop. With his Beverly Hills background and pretty boy good looks, he's fit for the land of movie stars and nose jobs. Too bad being LAPD is all he's ever wanted. No longer a rookie, he thinks he's ready for anything, even if the next challenge is working with his hard-assed yet magnetic ex-training officer. Partners on the job, Mike and Nate both struggle with an attraction that has no place in their world. Their explosive chemistry reaches a point it cannot be ignored, but the same chemistry that consumes them could destroy the very thing that binds them together.… (mehr)

It took me a bit to get into this one, but once I did, I really enjoyed it. I do hate that whole miscommunication crap though. I was really annoyed at Nate for being mad at Mike about the Taylor situation. If I saw something like that with my bf, he wouldn't get a chance to explain anything, and I'd have every right to be mad. Why was it ok to hold hands with and kiss Taylor, even if it was only to say goodbye? And after all of Nate's bitching about Mike not talking/communicating, then he doesn't bother to even let Mike know he's ok when Mike's been checking in on him?! To then have the nerve to tell Mike he's acting like a child because he won't talk to Nate about what happened... I think Nate was acting like a child by not talking to Mike about his concerns/issues with his feelings and realizing he's gay and then forcing Mike to talk to him. Hypocrtical much? ( )

I really enjoyed Rookie Move. I did think some of the writing, stylistically, needed a little more polish but the tension was nicely done and I really liked Mike and Nate. I have a thing for uber alpha at the moment, a d Mike had a few super magic moments! Super hot!! I did wonder a little about the swiftness of Nate's movement from being hetero to having lusty feelings for his partner, but the author managed my suspension of disbelief rather well with some great sex scenes and good pacing. This is definitely an author I'd pick up again. Cool read and kept me well entertained. ( )

Great read!

A solid story about a seasond gay, not out cop and a fresh faced colleague who always thought himself straight. It was very well written and Mike and Nate are both very likable characters. I loved how Mike fell for his younger partner, how the tension between them rose. There was also some humour (loved the "Oprah" comment especially - that had me laughing out loud), so all in all a very enjoyable read, not too heavy but not trivial either.

I will definitely be on the look out for more books of this author.

This one might be headed to my top 10 shelf, but I need to let it settle in my brain a bit first. I love cops almost as much as I love firefighters, so this book was a perfect fit for me. The MCs were both hot alpha males and the sex and angst was incredible. Highly recommended with a fabulous, sweet HEA. ( )
