Benjamin Banneker was the grandson of Molly Bannaky (an indentured servant who later bought freedom for slave husband). Benjamin was taught at home by Molly then sent to school. Benjamin was full of curiosity and wonder, so he learned about a lot of things like astronomy, farming, clock making, surveying, and played instruments too. He helped survey Washington DC for city planning, he created and published the first almanac and continued for 6 six yrs.
