The Big Bad Wolf is running a successful scam on Little Red's Grandma until Little Red catches him in the act. In this free short story Big Bad Wolf is running a successful scam on Little Red's Grandma until Little Red catches him in the act. If you like this sample story, look for The Newfangled Fairy Tales series.nbsp; Each fairy tale in the series puts a delightful new spin on classic stories and themes. King Midas is a workaholic banker who would rather play with his money than attend his son's Little League baseball games. The Three Bears invade Goldy's house because their forest home is being stripped to build a super highway. A Prince refuses to marry any of the grumpy princesses who lost sleep because there were peas under their mattresses. A clever princess pays a dragon to lose a fight so she can marry the man she loves. The twenty short stories in this series are lots of fun. Interesting take on the tale. ( )

This was a very interesting twist on Little Red Riding Hood. I really think that I may later on buy some of the other books in the series because I really liked the twist and it was so very interesting. As the big bad wolf does not eat grandma in this book, he moves in for a week allowing Little Red Riding Hood to bring him some food. It was quite interesting and definitely 3 fairy tale stars from me! ( )

A great story

Little red riding hood for the modern era. A great story to help kids understand that parents aren't always full of it when they say not to talk to strangers. ( )

Big Bad Wolf has disappeared and his son, Little Bad Wolf, is in the forest looking for him when he comes across Red Riding Hood and decides to play her for a fool and steal her grandmother’s food. Red, however, isn’t so gullible, and exposes the Bad Wolf boys’ schemes to the police! In a twist on the traditional Little Red Riding Hood story, Timothy Tocher offers a modern-day interpretation of this commonly known fairytale. The free kindle book version of the story is less enticing than the typical format that fairytales come in (picture books), because it lacks pictures. Similarly, the pages are filled with words, though lines are spaced further apart, rather than having few lines to a page. This version appears to be targeted toward older readers who are capable of reading longer, picture-less texts on their own. The story is silly because it plays on the story that readers heard growing up, so it appeals to older readers (who are well versed in the tale). That being said, the modern twist on the book, like Granny flying to Florida and the use of colloquial language, make the text seem unpolished and unprofessional. Some readers may feel that the changes take away from the charm of the original story, which they may look for when opening up a fairytale. ( )
