Cute.
The story was all goofy ridiculous humor with a side of fluff. Basically, an alternative-universe Dex as an alpha husky shifter.
It wasn't long enough for me to get a feel for the MC's personalities, and the plot was mostly cliches. But I still had fun reading it! ( )

A fantastic story that had me completely caught up! I can't wait for Hunter's story!

And just an FYI? I would sooo have been up on Robbie's bed with all the guys! Alien fugly spiders! *shudder* ( )

What a magnificent book. It has everything I like in a shifter story. There are fated mates who struggle to come together. There is an evil alpha, who has no morals and will do anything to remain in control. The entire pack is overseen by a power-hungry council where one member is more bigoted and nasty than the next. And the two main characters have tried so hard to do the “right thing”, only to find that there comes a point when enough is enough. Oh, and there are some mysterious laws and ancient secrets to top it all off. Add a cute kid who is wiser than many of the adults, a few supportive family members some of whom struggle with issues of their own, and a sense of humor that made me laugh out loud. This is a seriously good story with wonderful characters and a lot of potential for several sequels to come.

Trip is a Husky shifter with serious issues. Dare I mention spiders? One of the best scenes I have ever read and a hilarious recurring theme! But I digress. Trip has already done several unthinkable things – at least as far as his father and the council are concerned - when the story starts. He has come out as gay, he has divorced his wife, and yet he managed to keep his son Robbie with him. Trip has spent twenty years knowing his true mate is his enforcer, Boone, but he knows they’ll never be able to be together. Or at least he thinks he knows since Fate clearly has a different idea.

Boone loves Trip with everything he has, but he has accepted they can never be together openly, nor can they seal the bond without endangering their lives. He has learned to enjoy the few stolen moments they can spend together, more like friends than lovers, but he believes it is all they have. What he hadn’t counted on is his feral side having different ideas, and after twenty years of restraint, it takes over and sets in motion a chain of events that surprises everyone. The council is disgusted as old truths come to light, they find unexpected allies who help them make up their minds, and their future suddenly looks very different than they expected.

If you like shifter stories and finding out the rules of a new paranormal world, if two men who seem fated to never be able to be together catch your imagination, and if you’re looking for a read that is as emotional and hot as it is hilarious and surprising, then you will probably like this free novella as much as I did. I can’t wait to read the next installment!

I loved this story, and I was all set to give it 5 stars until the whole Ari situation. I know Hunter and Ari get the next book, but why didn't Trip kill Ari's mother after she let go of Hunter?! Since Trip is now bigger and stronger than everyone, it made me mad that he didn't do anything. ( )
