How to Date a Dragon by Ashlyn Chase Light-hearted paranormal romance where the heroine is introduced to the world of dragons, vampires, goddesses and others. A bit of suspense and family dynamics are also key to this well-written and entertaining romance. Second in a series, but stands easily on its own. It was adorable and I will read more by this author. Blissful (“Bliss”) Russo had not had a great two weeks. Her building had burned to the ground with all her belongings inside. The handsome fireman she begged to get her laptop out did so; but then was written up and suspended for a week. She can’t stay with her best friend because there isn’t room so she must go to her parents’ for awhile. Oh, and did I not mention the handsome fireman is a dragon? Drake is one of the last male dragons alive at 550 years of age and was tasked by his mother to perpetuate the race. Not likely when the only female he can find is a Dred-locked nutcase! Plus, he has set his sights elsewhere….. In a book of fires, great humor, Gods and Mother Nature, Drake and Bliss struggle with their feelings, the nasty Rasta-dragon and other issues. Italian parents may be worse than a pissed off dragon. (Trust me.) All come together in an entertaining novel where my favorite character is named Vulcan. He tends to show up unannounced. You’ll love it! In this sexy but fun paranormal, Bliss Russo meets handsome shape shifter Drake Cameron when he rescues her from her burning condo. Drake is a dragon who works as a fireman and he is instantly attracted to Bliss. Having her condo go up in flames is a disaster for Bliss because she is trying to get her snarky greeting card business off the ground and all of her designs and materials have literally gone up in smoke. With no job and no place to live, Bliss takes a part time job at her friends bar. The job comes with an apartment and a roommate, giving Bliss the opportunity to start her work over again and finish up her materials to compete in a reality show for card creators ( really!). When Bliss and Drake meet again, sparks fly and they begin a relationship. There are all kinds of outside pressures on the relationship including a vengeful female dragon in heat for Drake. Include the whole dragon/ human thing and both of the lover’s careers taking up a lot of time and the road to romance isn’t easy. This was a cute story with a bunch of wacky characters contributing to it. I liked Bliss being a no-nonsense woman who doesn’t get frightened off by Drake’s revelations. Her greeting card verses are a hoot. Drake is a truly nice guy with an interesting genetic makeup. Although parts of the plot are implausible even for a paranormal romance, the story is fun and the romance spicy so it all works out. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

HTML: Let the Sparks Fly Bliss Russo thought nothing exciting ever happened in her life. Until her building caught on fire and she had to be carried out of the flames in the arms of a gorgeous fireman. Also I'm apparently not a fan of a guy (or girl) giving up something that's an integral part of who they are simply because their beloved/mate/lover is unable to share it with them. I thought Bliss' more straight forward 'Aw hell no that's a bad idea' approach at the end was a better idea.
I think part of my problem was that all the various plotlines, some of which set up or tie up the other books in the trilogy, didn't coalesce well. If this had been a light, charming and sexy romance simply about Drake and Bliss trying to figure out how to have a relationship, I would have been happier. As it is we also get the psycho chick Drake dated once, meddlesome Gods who were hindering more their own cause more than helping, Bliss' reality show competition, Drake's firefighting and some super shady stuff at Bliss' part time job.
It was just too much in the end. I fully admit I skimmed several pages because they had nothing at all to do with Drake or Bliss.
If you enjoyed the first book (Flirting Under a Full Moon) or want some background on the third book's characters (Kissing With Fangs), since they feature prominently in here, then this is a good book. Chase's writing is breezy and easy to follow, and she does know how to make a steamy love scene. As for me, I was disappointed in how muddled it all became. ( )
