Forever catching me by surprise with unexpected twists and turns, this book did not disappoint and left me trying to catch my breath all the way to the end. What an emotional roller-coaster! I cannot wait to read Dawn of Eve next to see where this trilogy comes to an end. ( )

Pam Godwin is an amazing writer, who draws you in to her stories with evocative prose that reaches right inside of you, latches on deep, and pulls you toward an adventure you weren’t expecting. Her characters are so incredibly real they become a part of your family. You’ll find yourself cheering with them, crying with them, and loving them long after the last page has been read.

At the end of Dead of Eve, Evie and her three guardians (Roark, Michio, and Jesse) are two years into the apocalypse, which killed all the children and elderly and nearly all the women. The women who didn’t die have been turned into nymphs who continue to spread the horribly mutating virus turning men into aphid monsters. But, Evie is returning with a cure for the nymphs, and this story follows her, her three guardians, and the most adorable and loyal German shepherd, Darwin, on their crusade to save humanity.

Evie and her lovable men learn more about one another along the way, are drawn together and pulled apart. The fight is very real, gritty, and not for the faint of heart. You climb one emotional hill on the rollercoaster that is Pam Godwin writing, only to find yourself hurtled down a very steep drop. Once you catch your breath the next turn in the story has you gasping and wondering what could possibly happen next.

This is a story of survival, of love, and faith for a better future. It can be read as a standalone, as it does not end in a cliffhanger and gives you the backstory you need to understand the stakes faced by Evie on her adventure from the previous book. But, I would recommend the first book…because Evie’s men are that hot, and Darwin is, as I mentioned, my most favorite loyal pup.

I highly recommend this story. The journey is extraordinary. The plot richly crafted. The protagonist is a very strong female lead, but gentle, caring, and fragile at times. The men…oh my! The men are HOT!, and this is an erotic read.
