Huggly's chirstmas can be put into the category of some sort of modern fantasy. The reason this book is a fantasy is because the setting of the book is in a imaginitvie place, the monsters in this book aren't real. But I liked this book because of the imaginative monsters and setting because even though they are not real a child could believe monsters under there bed are real, and this book helps to show that if a child believes the monsters under their bed are real they are harmless. The author makes this setting seem real because the monsters are shown in the pictures that they live under a "people child's" bed, which in reality is any normal children's bed in their home. I also really like this book because of the theme of christmas. Christmas is relatable to almost any type of child reader because they take part in christmas or other holidays like christmas. Since Christmas is a well known and liked holiday around the world the children who read this book will be excited to read it because it is something they also celebrate. I really liked the pictures because they were very well thought out and intensely creative. The pictures and illustrations also created a fun character, Huggly, that the readers could easily follow around to watch the different adventures and obstacles he has to overcome. The big idea of this book would be team work because since Huggly made a mistake of climbing out of the cave into the people world and losing the monsters most precious star crystal his other monster friends, Booter and Grubble, have to work together to go back to try to find it. When they find the crystal they end up ruining the christmas tree and they have to work together to put everything back the way it is.
