After World War II ended, control of Korea was divided between the United States, who occupied the southern part, and the Soviet Union, who occupied the north. Tensions escalated until North Korea invaded South Korea in 1950. This book features three stories in graphic novel format describing Cold War conflicts between American and United Nations forces and Soviet, North Korean, and Chinese forces in the Korean Peninsula. It was interesting reading about a war which I have never heard much about. Even though the war was only three years, there were approximately 37,000 casualties. During the war North Korea only took Kaesong, and the war did not affect the South Korean community very much. North Korea was affected the most by the war because most of the battles took place in their territory and they are still recovering from the damage. The war between North and South Korea is still technically not over because no treaty was ever signed to officially end the war. There is still ongoing conflict to this day between North Korea and the United States of America, as the ally of South Korea. ( )
