Fictionalised early life of Attila the Hun, focussing on his time being held as a hostage by the Romans, his escape, and journey back to his family.

Whilst this was an easy enough read, I soon got bored, and am not interested in the other books in this series. Lots of fighting, lots of military set-ups from a dying Rome, lots of scheming and politics - which should keep certain readers entertained, but not me.

I had this book on holiday and had the choice of putting back in my luggage to read the last 100 pages or so and have to admit I left it behind..... ( )

Su único sueño es escapar y llegar a su tierra, a las llanuras de Asia Central, donde no hay muros y hombres y caballos, como un mismo ser, cabalgan en libertad.

An uneven and enjoyable book. I did read the second book first so this book does suffer from knowing the ending.

It was uneven because some importance scenes, the book decides to speed through (like the last chapter). There's also a HUGE gap left unsaid between the first and second book.

But when the author loved certain scenes ... certain moments, it really showed. ( )

overall I enjoyed it, though I could have done without the supernatural stuff. thankfully, there wasn't much of it. ( )
