4.5 stars. What can I say that hasn't already been said about these issues? It's Claremont at his best with fantastic art from Byrne, Cockrum, Austin & others and even the debut of Wheezie Jones (later Simonson) as editor who would go on to make as important and lasting a mark on the X-Men corner of the Marvel universe as Claremont.

But nothing's perfect, and this still suffers from some outdated language and problematic depictions of racialised characters that Omnibus vol 1 had, though less so as we move in to the 80s.

Definitely worth the read, though it takes a long time to do so. These old issues have so much more content and text than Modern Age books do. But for your trouble you get an incredible journey through some of the foundational stories of the X-Men as we know and love them. ( )
