I loved the fuzzy sweet illustrations. the elephants are not gendered so it can be a great gift to anyone, gramma, uncle, nanny, or parent for a baby of any gender too. It is very sweet and cuddly feeling. The non gendered characters make it open to anybody who wants to read it to anyone. ( )

A parent prepares the baby elephant for bed. The parent elephant describes his/her love for a baby elephant in a sentimental lullaby by using tender comparisons to senses. ‘I could gobble up your toes. I could stroke your tender hair.’ The hand-drawn pictures capture the soft and tender moments during the bedtime routine. The hues of purples and blues set a tranquil mood. One thing that Mem does brilliantly is that the parent is not genderized so, the parent elephant can be any parental figure. Although short, it is a perfect rhyming and precious book that pairs perfectly with bedtime. ( )
