As a romance novel this one covers all the bases but as for suspense there is none. One crew member might as well have worn a red shirt and, no, I don't think I'm spoiling anything there. The book is written from heroine Jessica's point of view but all the same I think it could have told me more about heartthrob Grant. So much about his life, family and career was glossed over. In fact, both Jessica and Grant came across as, well, less developed than I would expect from their ages and life experiences. The epilogue was classic HEA and a very satisfying if predictable ending. I received this book for free through the Good Reads First Reads program. Middle America girl leaves her small village after her mother dies to finally expand her wings. She takes a job in Phuket Thailand to local children. Still seeking more adventure she signs up for a cross the globe sailing trip that leads to big trouble when Somalia pirates take over the boat. A page turner at times, other times I found myself bored with predictable story lines and yet other times story lines that didn't match main character. In the end it all ties up pretty with a bow on top which only made the story less appealing in the end. Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

The book was uninteresting and touched on several things: becoming independent, travel, falling in love, heartbreak, family, loss. Perhaps too many things. And although I enjoyed it, I felt like it was never "real" for me. For even a second. The main character was too perfect, not believable. But the adventure part was well-written and during those pages, I couldn't put it down. ( )
