Seven years ago, my life changed forever. One accident and the person I saw in the mirror no longer resembled the woman I used to be. I was lost and confused inside my own body. I felt alone and disconnected from the world, carrying the incredible weight of guilt and loss that wasn't even mine to harbor. Then fate led me to Leo James. He taught me that crazy could be perfectly normal and it shouldn't hurt to breathe. Don't get me wrong. Leo isn't perfect. He has his own cross to bear, and the truth is, that might be why I fell for him in the first place. But despite everything he does for me, learning to forgive myself is infinitely harder than overlooking the flaws of another. Now, the secrets and lies of our past have begun to dictate our future-threatening to ruin us before we get the chance to try. Perhaps we were cursed from the start. Or maybe, just maybe, the remnants of our fractured lives will fit together to form one whole, where love isn't questioned and being happy is-well, easy. Contains mature themes.… (mehr)

Wasn't real fond of some of the plotting choices the author made here. On the whole it was enjoyable. The heroine was convincingly portrayed as someone who had had problems and overcome them. ( )

I read Changing Course and Stolen Course pretty recently and did not know Broken Course was coming out. I am so glad it did and I read it. A great conclusion to a really great story. So much has happened over the three books. There was a little of everything, I laughed, cried and there were some really great sex scenes in every book. Next on to Among the Echoes. ( )

Two secondary characters from previous books end up having the most profound book of them all with their emotional journey on their road to healing. When I went into this I figured it would be Sarah’s story as we all knew how broken she had been in the previous two books. But once this book got going I felt it was more Leo’s redemption and that was as well deserved as Sarah’s. These two characters couldn’t have been more broken and have pasts filled with so much heartache. Years ago they were on a certain path and that path got broken which in turn broke them. When these two find each other it sets them back on the right course to their much deserved happiness.

I loved that every couple/character from the Wrecked and Ruined series and Slate and Erica from Among the Echoes were in this book. All of those characters started on journey together that threw them off course and it just wouldn’t be fitting if they were all still together – all though not in the same way they were before – at the end of the journey.

For those that haven’t read this series it needs to be read in the following order – Changing Course, Stolen Course, Among the Echoes then Broken Course. It’s a very emotional ride you will take but its soo worth it because this final book in the series was the best and it has one the best epilogues that wraps up every character.

I loved the the other two book from the Wrecked and Ruined series, but wasn’t really sure when I learned this one was about Sarah. I mean we all learned to hate her in the other two, so I had very low expectations going into this book of falling in love with the characters. I couldn't have been more wrong!!!

Ms. Martinez does a great job of putting us right there in Sarah’s head in the prologue and we can start to see what she has been thinking through the first two books. I felt a real connection to her immediately.

And the hero of the story, Leo James, who could resist that hunk of awesomeness?! He falls for Sarah the second his eyes land on her and this meeting is just the beginning of their journey together.

Both Leo and Sarah have serious troubles to contend with thru the telling of their story. They aren’t perfect and their love isn’t always perfect either, BUT the fact that they work it out with each other really makes them top my list of favorite characters ever! Leo runs his own security business while Sarah is just starting a job with the newspaper office.

Leo is able to give Sarah back a piece of herself that she hasn’t really felt since before the traffic accident. She feels comfort from him that she didn’t know if she’d ever feel again:

After too many years of not even knowing myself, I don’t feel the struggle when I’m in his arms. I know Leo...and that might just be enough. At least for tonight.

And Sarah provides the same comfort for Leo, for different reasons, though. Their story is full of ups and downs like a real relationship would have, but I wouldn’t trade anything that happened in the story. I love Ms. Martinez’ writing and wish this story would have never ended.

I give Broken Course 5 out of 5 stars! ( )
