In a stunning twist of events, Addison Riley is launched from the halls of academia to the spotlight of Supreme Court nomination. She’s not entirely sure she wants the job, but the opportunity to make history ultimately trumps the trouble of having every aspect of her life examined by friends and enemies alike. Committed to the process, she’s determined not to let her attraction to a beautiful woman or the threats on her life deter her from becoming the first female Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Campaign advisor Julia Scott has spent her entire life working to make other people successful, and her pinnacle achievement was the recent presidential election. Now she’s in charge of making sure the president’s first Supreme Court appointment sails through the Senate. She’s faced tough challenges before, but nothing like those posed by the infuriatingly focused Addison Riley, a woman who challenges her mind and awakens her heart. It's the story of Addison, she's the Dead of a Law School who gets put on the fringes of the nomination process for the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court by a Senate friend. And Julia, the campaign advisor who is tasked by the President of the United States to get his selection to be the next Chief Justice through the appointment process in the Senate.
It was an interesting love story, and then there was a turning point in the book and all of a sudden the novel was even more than just a lesbian romance fiction book. As I said I didn't expect it, but I definitely enjoyed it.
And I did enjoyed the entire novel. In "Rush" I disliked all the characters, even at the end, but in this novel I found myself liking almost all the characters, from beginning to end. (Even some of the characters who I thought I would dislike through the entire book I grudgingly started to like).
I also found a lot of the political stuff really fun to read. And then there was Cindy. She was Julia's assistant in the novel and I loved her character's journey. She was my favorite character in the novel by far.
A really fun novel with an awesome story and really great characters.
I got this advanced galley through Netgalley on behalf of Bold Strokes Books. ( )
