I really didn't feel any ties between the characters, I felt like i was reading aboutl lots of characters each with their own story, but thrown together into this one plot.
I also didn't like how the shifter creature took over... all of a sudden we had a different named character, or a conversation between our main character and its sifited self.
the first 30% of the book dragged for me and I almost gave up, but once Chris became a shifter the plot and pace improved.
if there are any follow on books I home the writing style and the plots will be improved, somewhat narrowed in scopr and the character have more ties with each other (
