( ) A nice story with a fine plot and action but nothing real exciting and after awhile I started to dislike the hero who seemed to be rubbing the heroine's nose in her unrequited love. Business tycoon Trent comes to town to buy C.C.'s home and is surprised when he finds she's the mechanic fixing his car. This was one of NR’s Harlequin Silhouette series, so it’s pretty much straight romance. There is a thread of a mystery which is carried through the entire series… What happened to make Bianca (their great-grandmother) kill herself, and where is her famous emerald necklace?… but really the focus of this novel is the relationship between C.C. and Trent. The one thing NR always does so well is create characters that feel so real, they could walk in your front door at any moment. Here she hasn’t created just one character, but an entire family where each person is different than the last. The "four sisters who all have different colored hair and distinctly different personalities" thing is a little clichéd, but it doesn’t take away from the grand romance. I’m already into the third book in this series, and I don’t expect to stop until I’m finished. Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
A Lasting Legacy Catherine "C.C." Calhoun is determined to keep her family's estate, known affectionately as the Towers, in the family. She admits the cost of keeping up the crumbling mansion might be quickly exceeding what C.C., her sisters and her aunt can afford, but the only way to save the house can't be to sell it. Especially not to arrogant and handsome hotel magnate Trenton St. James III. Trent doesn't believe in mixing business with pleasure, especially with a woman who expects--and deserves--true love and marriage. Trent has little faith in either. And yet, C.C.'s passion and purpose begin to change his mind about the Towers...and about love. But can he have one without sacrificing the other? " Nora] Roberts weaves a story like no one else, and if possible, she just gets better." --Rocky Mountain News Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
