( ) This book is a Q and A book about a chicken who followed a child home. The child asks questions about the chicken as to which breed it is, what will it eat, is his/her chicken a rooster or hen, will it fly away, how to keep it safe, etc. The story goes through these and other questions until the baby chicks are born and he/she wonders if these chicks will follow someone else home. The books uses a question and answer format to give a lot of facts about chickens. As many kids ask tons of questions, this format really works for providing a lot of information about chickens in general. This could be used to teach this form of writing of non-fiction book. Student could then ask questions about another animal, research the topic and write their own version of this book. This book is an excellent example of a children's picture book that is also an informational text. This book is a part of the informational genre because it is a nonfiction book that uses expository writing and it is written to convey verifiable information in an inviting manner with bold, colorful illustrations. Media: digital rendering in Adobe Photoshop. The book starts out by saying, "A chicken followed me home. What do I do now?" which pulls in the reader in an interesting way and then proceeds to inform the reader of everything they need to know to care for a chicken, from selecting a chicken coop, feeding a chicken and keeping it safe. It also goes beyond that to discuss various breeds of chickens and many facts about egg laying and chicks. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
