It is difficult to know who the target market is for this book. The theme seems to be aimed at adults, or at the very least mature teenagers; but if so, then the content appears far too patronising for its audience.
Perhaps it is all meant to be a bit tongue-in-cheek; and, I am sure that a couple of years ago its purpose may have seemed less ambiguous. But, lately what with the craze for adult colouring books at its height - containing highly detailed artwork which is aimed very much at the adult market, this book just falls flat on its face.
I suspect the novelty value would have been that this was a colouring-in book not aimed at kids!
Unfortunately, the author has probably missed his mark with the current trend in this sector; and although anything associated with Cthulhu Mythos will always become a cherished item to many people, I suspect it is only a short time before a proper Lovecraftian colouring-in book is published which takes full advantage of the latest appeal for therapeutic art books.
On the other hand, perhaps I have missed the point; and this book was aimed at parents who would be tickled to see their 6-8 year olds getting their first exposure to Lovecraft. If so, then I take back everything that I have said.
Let 'em at it. ;) ( )
