Great classic fantasy. Short and to the point. ( ) I would consider this a light read but I was satisfied by the characterization of the lead persona. Most people will find him unbelivably naive in his world view, which in turn seems to hint at a less deep looking world compared to the masters of modern fantasy. I; however, found it charming and consistent. The protaganist is part of a magically created race that has had little interaction with humans for some 300 years. Thus, it is understandable if the character seems a little shallow and gullible. As future books will reveal, there is a lot more going on than meets the eye. The overman named Garth sought immortal fame. The oracle told him to serve the Forgotten King to get that fame. But this King sent Garth after a basilisk whose gaze could turn men to stone. What sane use could anyone have for a monster like that? Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
