Not much happened in it and it mostly just felt like it was dragging on more than anything. Even at the point that you would probably call the climax I couldn’t really bring myself to care about the story. With the title “Dangerous Lies” I honestly expected a lot more danger, but what we mostly got was an unlikeable protagonist being a teenager. Like honestly, Estella is one of the most annoying protagonists that I’ve read in a while. She was bratty, and judgmental for most of the book and despite proclaiming to have ‘loved’ Reed she moved on pretty quickly to Chet. Also several issues in the book were never given full closure like we never really knew what happened to Reed?? Estella just kind of assumes that he sold her mom drugs but never followed it up to check or find out what really happened to him. Also, I would have liked more info on what was going to happen with Dusty, Inny, and the baby? Overall an was just entirely dissatisfied with this book. The only reason it got two stars instead of one is because I have in fact read worse books and I at least liked Chet okay so it had that going for it. More along the lines of 3 and a half stars but gave it four as I felt it's closer to that than 3. It was really good, the suspense and a great story line. The characters were great but maybe a little more development and their relationships sometimes felt a little glossed over and like the author was trying to wrap the book up as if she had ran out of time but overall a pretty good read As part of the summer reading program, I had to read a book that took place in my home state, which is Nebraska. I really enjoyed this book, about a young girl who is whisked away from her home in PA, to a small farm in NE. She has recently entered the federal witness protection program and has to cope with her new surroundings in a dinky town with little night life. But she makes a few friends, gets a job and falls in love. There is a little bit of suspense, some romance and interesting character relationships that keep you reading to see how everything turns out. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

I will say, I was expecting it to be more thriller. There were very few thrills, and was not very exciting. I was waiting for somebody to find her, Nope. NOTHING
She does have a little of trouble with a neighborhood kid, but honestly (it was nothing)
I was thinking this was a definite thriller, but honestly it's just a High School lover story. (Don't get me wrong, I love a good romance) but I think the cover isn't true to the story and gave me false hopes.
Stella is a bit hard to like at first, with her disrespectfulness and just plain out rude.
She did grow on me though, when I learned of her character and in the end she was very likable.
I loved the characters, Especially her fake foster mother. She was sassy, and I loved seeing Stella and her become friends.
Chet was a character I loved from the start, and noting changed that would make me dislike him.
Theo, Inny etc. we're fun characters.
Overall I would rate this 4/5 and definitely would read again, because I loved the story. It wasn't as much thrill seeking as I had hoped (but the romance made up for it) ( )
