I've loved Lemire's other works but my library didn't have any of the Sweet Tooth books until this came along recently. Sadly though it's the only one volume! What in the world did I just read? Maybe I would think that always, or maybe I think that because I am currently working from home because of the pandemic. Who knows. This is a world where a pandemic has whipped out most of the population, and new kids being born, are born with animal features. However, Gus, aka Sweet Tooth, is older than the plague, so what is going on. This is a very bloody book, and while it is a dark fantasy, i truly do think many of the things that happen in this book, would happen in real life if we were hit with a pandemic that kills more than COVID. Say if Ebola gets out in the US. This story is compelling, and the art work is haunting. I had to immediately put the next book on hold at the library. It’s that good. #Popsugarchallenge - Has the same title as a song Zeige 4 von 4 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

Kids like Gus have a price on their heads. Seven years ago, the Affliction raged like a forest fire, killing billions. The only children born since are part of a new breed of human-animal hybrids. Gus is one of these children, a boy with a sweet soul, a sweeter tooth-and the features of a deer. When vicious hunters descend on his isolated forest home, a mysterious and violent man called Jepperd rescues Gus. The hulking drifter promises to lead Gus to The Preserve, a fabled safe haven for hybrid children. As the two cross this dangerous new American frontier, will Jepperd corrupt the boy he's nicknamed Sweet Tooth, or will Gus's heart change Jepperd? Written and illustrated by spectacular talent Jeff Lemire, SWEET TOOTH is a haunting tale of survival in post-apocalyptic America of friendships formed in tragedy, and the good and bad in humankind. Collects never-before-seen sketches and an introduction by celebrated actor Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex, Frost/Nixon). Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
