"Seeds" by Ken Robbins is a book about seeds- primarily different types of seeds, but it also discusses a little about how seeds grow. It says that every seed has to be in an environment where everything is exactly right to grow - the right temperature, moisture, space, and light. Sometimes they are planted there, but a lot of the time they end up there by chance. Then, the book talks about different kinds of seeds- pits in cherries and avocados, wheat, corn kernels, acorns, and more. I think this book is a good introduction to different types of seeds. I like the illustrations included in the book, as well as easy-to-understand descriptions of the seeds. However, I wish that there was more of an explanation into how seeds grow and what the process is. I think this book would be good to use for comparing and contrasting different seeds, or grouping them based on a similar feature. ( )

This book is all about different seeds. It starts by explaining what a seed is, how many seeds will not grow and the different sizes of seeds. After this the rest of the book explains different types of seeds. My favorite is the avacado page because it tells you how to grow the plant. Good idea for a plant life cycle unite.

Seeds is an informational text that provides simplified insight to how seeds work. I thought this book was interesting because it has easy descriptions with vivid photography to help readers grasp how seeds are able to grow and form more seeds. The book not only provide information about how seeds grow but different types of seeds from tomatoes to coconuts. It also had a portion describing how to grow your own avocado tree. Overall to me this book was a good way to inform readers/children about where and how seeds form. It gave bulk of the information in details that are easily understood but could also be explored more in depth.

The message of this book was to simply inform readers where seeds come from, how they grow (special conditions), how they produce more seeds, and then other little fun facts about the seeds. Robbins did a good job of providing large imagery to enhance the information delivered on each page.
