Is it terrible that I have never read the actual novel and had no idea about the story until now when I have read a graphic version? I liked how the creators of this novel appear to keep Shelley's actual prose and didn't modernise the language. The whole concept of Frankenstein being the monster himself is very subtly drawn out here as the graphic novel concentrates on the actions that take place in the plot, rather than the main characters own musings of his failings having created the creature from spare parts. The drawings are a little bit dated looking but I guess that is in keeping with the novel itself. This would be a great starter for struggling students who are about to read Frankenstein the actual novel as it condenses all the scenes into one flowing story. ( )
