Goergeously illustrated, wonderfully written book that gives readers a sweeping look at the BC coast. Since it's an ABC book, I was expecting something a lot simpler, possibly rhyming. But this is very sophisticated in its writing and images, and contains a wealth of information that will make readers fall in love with the setting. ( )

A beautiful alphabet book depicting scenes from the pacific northwest.

This is an informational picture book. It goes through the alphabet and talks about aspects of the pacific west coast - from ancient rainforest, to gray whales, to quillback rockfish. This is a good informational book (at least I'm pretty sure this is an informational book) because it gives good detail about these aspects of the pacific west coast while staiying very interesting. I would use this book during a nature unit to talk about the area we live in - more specifically what we find at the coast. I might let the kids each choose a letter and do more research on that part of the coast. The illustrations are done in watercolor and colored pencil.

This informational alphabet book goes through a series of wild animals you can find when you explore the west coast. This text is written in an alphabet style; meaning it goes through in the order of a, b, c, etc. For each of the wild life it talks about where they may be found, as well as what they eat. This book also includes some plants and weather patterns than may be seen in the west coast. However, the main focus is on the wildlife such as deer, eagles, and orcas. ( )
