I never really felt I developed a connection to any of the characters. While I was rooting for Tally and Memphis, some of the obstacles they have to overcome as a couple didn't always make sense to me and the major "plot twist" reveal felt entirely unnecessary as well as being very poorly handled by the characters. In all honesty, I felt that Memphis Black would have been better written if it was entirely, or at least mostly, from Tally's POV. There was something that felt off about the way Memphis' POV was written. I felt as if the references from his POV to Goldilocks, Disney princesses, Kermit the Frog and even Star Wars where he didn't know the names of characters or titles of movies would have worked better if these were things that were also referenced from her POV, especially since it felt like most of these references would have been made about movies his sister and her best friend forced him to sit through but I don't recall her ever making references to any of it in her thoughts or dialogue, except perhaps in the form of her shirts. That being said, I did find many of the characters to be highly amusing and the interactions between different characters, although awkward at times, proved to be very entertaining. The dynamic that existed between the band members was probably my favorite part of the book. Zeige 2 von 2 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

I was really excited for the opportunity to read this novel. Rock star focused New Adult novels were my favourite trend of 2015 and this one sounded perfect! Forbidden unrequited love and bad boy being tamed? Yes please!
Unfortunately, this book just didn't work for me. I wanted to see more interaction and falling in love between the two. I just didn't see why they liked each other besides physical attraction. A lot of it was implied, I felt, given their past. Which is fine, I just wanted it elaborated on a touch more.
I also didn't get the characters' thought process at time. I know it was used as a dramatic plot device but the logic or why they felt that way (and subsequently act like they do) was lost on me. It just made everything seem like a hot mess when it didn't need to be.
What I did like was that these rockers are exactly what you expect rockstars to be. Lots of women, lots of drugs and alcohol and bad attitudes. They aren't these secretly good guys with hearts of gold like other books project them. I just wish their character development was a little stronger.
I don't think I will be continuing with this series as I didn't connect with the other characters in the band.
