The Original Series is my favorite show of the Trek franchise. I imprinted young when I developed a crush on Captain Kirk at eleven. At it's best it could be amazing, and featured scripts by science fiction talents such as Theodore Sturgeon and Harlan Ellison. But then, well there was Season Three, the show's last season, which many of us would like to pretend doesn't exist.

But as Season Three episodes go, "All Our Yesterdays" was one of the best, particularly for Mariette Hartley's Zarabeth. And as a child, I was quite taken with Kirk's adventures with the witch-burners too. In the case of "The Savage Curtain?" Well, I don't think anyone would ever make a case for it as one of the best episodes, some parts are cringe-worthy honestly. But it does boast one of the most intriguing characters seen on Trek, that of Surak, the founder of Vulcan's ruling philosophy, so this episode is worth knowing as a Trek fan for that alone. ( )
