For twenty years, Kendrick, a white tiger Shifter, has been the Guardian of un-Collared Shifters who spend their lives living in secret and in fear of being shunted into Shiftertowns. When Kendrick's group is discovered and forced to flee, Kendrick is more desperate than ever to protect them. In a diner in the middle of nowhere, lonely waitress Addison Price has seen a lot of unusual drifters come and go, but none has ever captivated-and intimidated-her like the imposing fugitive who wields a broadsword with incredible skill. But when he risks everything to protect her, Addison's fear turns to empathy, and empathy to desire as she learns more about her savior. Soon she's more than willing to help the crushingly sensual white tiger and his cubs in a passionate bid for freedom-whatever the cost.… (mehr)

White Tiger
4 Stars

Series note: There are numerous references to characters and events from previous books, particularly the novella, Bear Attraction. As such, the series should be read in order.

Kendrick and Addie are a likable couple and they have strong chemistry. While Kendrick can be overbearing at times, his protective streak and obvious love for his cubs and for Addie more than compensate for his alpha tendencies. Addie is a bit of a Mary Sue, but she can and does stand up to Kendrick when necessary. One annoying scene, however, is when she simply caves to Jaycee's threats - she should have been more assertive.

Although there is no advancement in the overall collar story-arc, the plot does develop the thread originally presented in Bear Attraction as Kendrick reunites his pack and comes to terms with his past. The villain is a nasty piece of work who gets his just deserts. Perhaps I am somewhat bloodthirsty, but one satisfying aspect of this book, and the series in general, is that evil characters get what's coming to them.

Overall, it has been some time since I read the previous installment but it was easy to get back into the world and the characters, and the story is enjoyable. ( )

I enjoy this series for the most part and this one was good it just wasn't great. The romance sort of lacked sizzle and was pretty secondary to the plot. The plot was a little muddled, not tight not real believable. There was some deus ex machina here. Are we going to use Tiger in every book to help out the characters when they've lost someone or something? Speaking of Tiger, there were an awful lot of characters in this book both new and from other previous books. I did like the hero and how he interacted with his sons. I would have liked more background on both the hero and the heroine. That would have gone a ways towards getting us to know and care more about the romance I think.

End result I enjoyed it. Maybe not as much as some in the series but probably more than others. I will definitely continue with the series though. ( )

~ 4 White Tiger Stars ~

This series has fast become one of my favorites to read. I enjoy the assortment of shifters, the world building is remarkable, and the character dynamics are great. Ashley knows how to write a great paranormal romance and she keeps things new and fresh with each installment.

White Tiger is book eight in the Shifters Unbound series by Jennifer Ashley. It can be read as a stand a lone, but I feel you will get more enjoyment if you read the novels in order.

Kendrick has popped up briefly before. He’s a protective daddy, caring and a fighter. He’s fighting/protecting his son’s as well as trying to find a safe haven for his shifters to live and to stay free/un-collared.

Addison is a strong female who’s had a few bad breaks, but she doesn’t let that get her down. When things get crazy at the dinner she’s working at, she immediately sides with the man who protects her and his “cubs”.

The author does a suburb job connecting you to the characters. Their conversations and the characters themselves feel realistic. The world created is vast and it keeps growing. The series started out in Austin, Texas and has expanded to other Shiftertowns as well as shifters who avoided getting rounded up and collared. Their life, culture and how they deal with everything and the changes happening; is fascinating.

This book takes us on a different turn. We leave the Shiftertowns and move out into the open wide world, where their is tension and danger. The danger is not from humans or the Fae, but from other shifters. This adds a whole new dimension to this already vast and unique world. Dylan also shows up and plays a large role. Even though he stepped down as shifter alpha you see that he is still powerful and much more involved in things.

This series has something for everyone to enjoy. We get a vast array of shifters, great world building, fast-paced, action-paced and romance. I can’t wait for the Guardian’s Mate. Just from the little teaser we get at the end of White Tiger we already see it’s going to be another unique and different aspect to the world.

I am always happy when I read a Jennifer Ashley book. There is just something about her writing that feeds my soul. I've really liked all that I've read by her, some more then others.

With Guardian's Mate out in September I knew I had to get caught up on this series. I want to thank by BFF and fellow blogger Karen (The Many Faces of Romance) for surprising me with my copy of White Tiger. She knew I wanted a print copy and was having trouble finding it. Thanks Karen!!!!

You meet Kendrick in Bear Attraction and from that moment on you want his story. There is just something about him...is he good, or bad, what's his story!

I was sort of surprised his story started so normally. Oh year there was the shooting and running for their lives, but other then that, normal. Addison is just perfect for him and his sons. When she's thrown into a tight spot she does all she can to protect those under her care.

These two work very well together, they balance each other out.

Often when I read stories by Jennifer Ashley I feel like the story moves so quick that I start it one minute and then the next I'm done. White Tiger for me happened even fast than that. I loved it that much that I just couldn't stop reading it, or put it down until I was done. It might have taken me a while to find the time to read it but once I did...

You will love the characters, many are from the past books, but you also meet a few new ones. Just a heads up, Zander is in this one too! Now his story I can't wait for, I have a thing for bears. I know, crazy right!!! And this one is out of his mind what a ride his story is going to be.

I've reviewed many of Ashley's books and with each new one I enjoy her more and more. If you haven't yet read her you don't know what you are missing. Her stories are perfect for a quite afternoon.

Lonely and stuck in a predictable routine of waking up, going to work at the diner and going home-the heroine's life is suddenly and forever changed one night. The beautiful man which white and black hair comes in with his 3 sons as usual just before closing time. She looks forward to his visit every single night even if he doesn't say much and she's doesn't even know his name. Than, she's horrified to find her cook dead at the back door and the small diner in the middle of no where under attack by a barrage of bullets. The hero saves her, tells her to look at his children and the proceeds to change into a tiger and attack the men outside. When all is said and done, the heroine does as asked of her and flees the diner with the 3 boys to a safe place until the hero can meet up with them. Frazzled but truly alive for the first time in a long time, she gives in to the impulse to kiss the sexy man knowing she'll never see him again. Then he rides off into the night and she drives off to find somewhere to hide out for a spell in case the men return to look for her. She's pulled over by the cops who find her departure suspicious and bring her in for questioning. Seeing the image of the beautiful waitress on tv, the hero breaks her out of jail. Knowing that his scent on her will draw the attention of the shifters after him, he agrees to take her with him. They find a ranch off the beaten path and hold up until the hero can get his baring's. As leader of his group of uncollared shifters, the hero is suddenly unsure where the loyalties of his pack lie-and a man he once granted power within his pack has turned on him and is inspiring his people to rebel against their seclusion. The last thing he needs to worry about on top of finding a safe place for his pack, keeping his children safe and hunting down the man responsible for all his problems is the distraction of a mate. He's been lost since he first laid eyes on the heroine and every second in her company is sweet torment. He admires her loyalty, the way she treats his children putting their safety above her own and every time she touches him he fears he'll lose all control. But he realizes that the fight to withhold himself from her is a losing battle and the strength of a powerful and strong woman is just what he needs especially when he must finally put an end to his enemy once and for all. Yet another awesome book to the series. First off, I adored the heroine. She was willing to fight for what she believed in and for those she loved. She was extremely intelligent, logical and resourceful. The hero didn't need to baby her, or to try to explain to her the dangers of their situation. She knew the dangers and she acknowledged she was afraid but that didn't stop her from doing everything she could possibly to do help the hero and protect his children. She was the perfect woman for the type of leader the hero was. In short she was a down ass bitch... And the hero was delicious-as usual. This author has a great way of making her male leads so damn sexy it's not even funny. Strong silent types are my type so the quiet and reserved hero was spot on in my books. This didn't stop him from being extremely powerful in the quiet and commanding attention without necessarily saying the words. And he acknowledged the heroine as being the smart and dependable woman she was, he didn't try to possess her and felt humbled when she proved herself reliable again and again. Awesome book. Keep them coming Jennifer!!!! ( )
