In Eden Hall, Minty learned that God loves and values her, despite her bleak and repressive childhood. Now Minty has inherited Eden Hall--and a host of problems. There's no money to keep the massive Hall open, members of her step-family do their utmost to destroy her, and the staff at the Hall are up to no good. Everyone has high expectations of her, but she is too inexperienced to avoid all the pitfalls in her new life. She has found her own true love again and is sure of her own feelings, but Patrick has doubts about their future together. Both Minty and Patrick have to learn how to forgive those who have damaged them in the past, especially when those same people still have the power to destroy them. Minty learns she has to be wise as a serpent to find ways to keep the Hall going and to save the villagers who depend upon it for their livelihood. All the quirky characters from Eden Hall--and many more--crowd around, looking for leadership from the Lady of the Hall.… (mehr)

In this second book in "The Eden Hall Series" you will continue to watch "Minty" Cardale embrace her new role as Lady of the Hall. Since this books picks up right where book one left off, I highly encourage people not to read them out of order.

Although Minty has been given Eden Hall after the death of her father, there is a lot of hard work ahead of her as she struggles to keep the place open to the public, while finding money to fix it up and also find time to help with the charitable foundation her father started. But Minty's biggest challenge is her bitter and resentful step-family who do nothing to help her but only to harm her. Her one consolation is the friends she has made in the village and her childhood sweetheart and eventual fiance', Patrick Sands. These two were meant for each other, but don't expect a lot of romantic moments with these two love-birds, because they are few and far between.

This story dealt with "the burden of unforgiven hurts" which can destroy a person if they don't deal with them. But the peace, love and happiness that you find when you learn to forgive and let go of the hurt is worth it all. Looking forward to seeing what will happen next at Eden Hall in "Secrets at Eden Hall", book 3. ( )
