Oron Was alerted to this book by the author at Facebook. Was happy to get it to review as there are many important lessons to be learned. Family of a dad and son elephant and the dad wants to make chocolate milk for his son who doesn't want to go to the store. Very colorful children's story about how they do venture out and find all kinds of neat things that entertain them along the way. The son is also taught lessons on how to behave while near the road. Liked especially the imagination used in their travels as we do the same with our grandson on walks or bike riding. Love that you can see the words on the pages, either light words on dark background or vice versa. No difficult words and the parent should read the book with their child. Met author via Facebook and was given a review copy and this is my honest review. Dad wants to make Elphie a special treat but first they must go to the store for the ingredients. Elphie doesn't want to go because the store is boring. And who can blame Elphie. The store is boring. However, Elphie makes this trip into an epic adventure. The only problem is his dad is a bit too cautious for his liking. Everything that Elphie wants to do, his father deems too dangerous. Elphie and Dad Go On An Epic Adventure is a cute story about making a mundane task into an adventure. Elphie is fearless while his dad is reserved, but together they find a way to make an average day just a little bit better. This story is geared toward ages 4-8, but I think it would be suited more for the 4 year olds. Also, it's currently free on Amazon. I'm not sure how long it will be free, so grab your copy today. A bright picture book that brings the inner life of a child together with a parent’s concern for safety and fun, Elphie and Dad go on an Epic Adventure is a very satisfying tale to share with any small child. Particularly pleasing touches include the active presence of a loving father, uncluttered (yet detailed) images that convey imagination, reality and emotion in an amazingly simple manner, and a story that’s told in first person, from the child’s point of view. Italicized dialog is pleasingly natural, and real-world situations are offered without weighty explanation, leaving room for child and parent to figure things out. The illustrations are the icing on the cake in this book, portraying a vividly real world (modern Israel I’m told), with details that tease the imagination, and hints of what might happen in pages to come. It's all put together in a manner that makes the book a delight to read and reread over and again. Disclosure: I was given a free ecopy and I offer my honest review.
