I read the The Fall of the Iman many years ago. It is one of those rare books that demand to be read again and each time I see it on the shelf, it reminds me: don’t forget me! but only now, after many years, I find the time and pick it up again. Doris Lessing says that this novel is more like a poem or a lamenting ballad. Quite true. It asks to be read aloud, the words and sentences are like variations on a melody, it’s own distinct melody at times sad, at times anxious but also imbued with strength and determination. I feel this melody emerging even in the translation although the author says that for her the Arabic language is music and much of it is lost in the English language (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBhjubxMkUk) (IV-18) Ini buku kedua Nawal El-Saadawi yang saya koleksi setelah "Perempuan di Titik Nol". Ide ceritanya menarik... tapi gak tau kenapa, sampul buku edisi Indonesianya kok agak menganggu. Tampilan visualnya kurang oke. Terlihat suram... But anyway, Jatuhnya Sang Imam bisa dijadikan bacaan ringan di waktu senggang. Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
