This Nat Geo reader is a short, biographical chapter book that tells the story of Ibn al-Haytham, who discovered that eyes see when light comes into them to create an image. I think this book is a great non-fiction read because it has so many great text features, like boxes with 'words to know,' additional facts, quotes, and captioned pictures. In addition to being a great way to explore concepts of light, it also could foster conversations around the fact that many scientific and mathematic discoveries were by Muslim scholars, even though we only typically hear of European scientists. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

Profiles the life and work of a devout Muslim who was the first to hypothesize that vision occurs when light beams travel through the lens of a human eye.
During the golden age of science, knowledge, and invention in Muslim civilization, Ibn al-Haytham discovered how we see. His discoveries set the stage for the methods we now know as the scientific process. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
