This book only had pictures of coins for you to count. It helped with addition but didn't really teach the value of money. I think it would've been helpful if it showed things we could buy with these coins so that kids can learn the value of money. For example, they could've counted 50 cents and had a picture of a lollipop, or 5 nickels which makes a quarter which can get you a gumball from the gumball machine. More natural connections could have been beneficial since there wasn't much layers of meaning. This could also help enable discovery of wonder by having the reader wonder what they could buy with 5 quarters. ( )

Summary: A book about a pocketful of coins and how change just adds up. Through the book counting, adding, and identifying American currency from one penny to one dollar is made exciting and easy. It uses real pictures of money and tells you thing things you can do with money. It begins with pennies and eventually adds nickels, dimes, quarters, and half dollars to see how larger sums of money can be created.

Personal Reflection: This is a great book that makes sense of the American currency and the coins within them. It adds coins up to make different coins and goes on an on. The book uses simple rhymes and clear pictures to show children how to group, add, and count the coins.

Curriculum Connection: A great book to use when teaching Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd-grade students about money and counting coins. It shows a clear picture of how many coins you need to make the next coin and allows the readers to easily understand the concept of money with real pictures of coins. ( )

This book would be useful for hands on activities with money. There wasn't a story to this book. It's very busy and could get confusing. ( )

45 months - O has a play set of money so she is learning the names of the coins and how much they are worth. We often play store. The hope is that we can use this book over an over to build on our learning and become more proficient with our understanding of money. ( )
