The magical elements were intriguing, but never fully explored. The characters underwent changes, but they never really developed. And the rushed ending, complete with an instant-love connection? It just didn't work for me. Not the strongest of the "Once Upon A Time" series for sure. A fractured fairytale based around the classic story of Cinderella. Cinderellon's mother dies very soon after Cinderellon's birth and her father, grief stricken, flees the house, leaving the servants to raise the child. He soon returns with another child named Raoul who the servants are to raise as well. 16 years later, a woman shows up at the house with her two daughters saying she has married the master of the house, however she clearly does not know that Cinderellon is her new stepdaughter. This retelling does not have evil stepmothers, but neither does it have any traditional magic. When Cinderellon goes to the prince's ball with her stepfamily, she and Raoul get more than they bargained for and the puzzle pieces of their lives begin to fall into place. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

In this retelling of the Perrault fairy tale, Cendrillon's father, grief stricken over the death of his wife, leaves his baby daughter to be brought up by servants together with an unidentified infant boy until the day, sixteen-years-later, when a new stepmother with two daughters arrives and changes their lives forever. I enjoyed some parts of the book and the skewing of the original story, but most of the characters were two dimensional as there was just not enough time to develop them. Poor Cinderella ended up with the least developed romance and Prince Pascal, who even is he? We barely got to meet him.
Maybe if the book had 300 more pages to really nut out the story it could have been great. ( )
