I am hoping another book follows this one. There is so much that I want to know, one thing that I want Allie to know. I eagerly awaited this books arrival. I had read the first two books in the series back to back. At the same time I was apprehensive about its arrival. I have read many series by many authors. Invariably, somewhere, a book in the series will let me down, (occasionally the entire series goes down at that point). With the author being fairly new, I just wasn't certain about anything. I can honestly say that, so far, each book has been better than I expected. I had pretty much figured things out toward the end of this book. Some things you could see coming. I was debating between a couple of options and was right...but also wrong. Yes! That is correct. The author managed to toss in a little extra surprise I didn't count on. I absolutely love when that occurs! I wouldn't recommend this series to a sensitive reader or a young one. Due to the subjects covered I would definitely put this in the adult category. I would, though, highly recommend it to those who like psychological thrillers. There is violence in them. There are mental disturbances. There is also writing that will keep you reading long after you should have gone to bed. This was definitely a book I couldn't put down. I think you could read it alone and enjoy it. To fully understand it, though, I would read all three books in order. Don't Say a Word by Jennifer Jaynes is the third volume in the Strangers Series but can be read as a standalone. I have not (yet) read the first two volumes and can say that this story started strong and stayed strong right to the end. As a psychological thriller this was wonderful. The depth with which we get to know the protagonist (even when read as a standalone) makes the tense action even more gripping. We experience nerve-wracking scenes through the psyche of a person who is a work-in-progress when it comes to anxiety, stress and confidence. The characters are all drawn well and we learn enough about each to feel some investment depending on their situation. Life can hand a lot of pain and uncertainty to everyone, especially children, and each child will react differently under that stress. Highly recommended for readers of psychological suspense/thrillers as well as fans of character-driven stories. The writing makes this a quick and compelling read, you won't want to put it down. Reviewed from a copy made available through Goodreads' First Reads. In this third book in the series, several years have passed and we find Allie and Bitty in Texas. Allie is now the mother of a little boy that she adores. Bitty is still taking in foster kids so when the parents of twins, Zoe and Carrie, are murdered, she gladly takes the girls in. But these are no ordinary girls and to add to the pressure, the killer is still out there. This book was alright. Bitty and Allie did not come across as the strong characters that they did in the previous book. They seem at loose ends. But the story was still pretty good. I don't know if there will be more books in the series. I would like to find out what is going on with the characters from the first book. They were pretty interesting and went their own ways at the end of the book. Time for a reunion. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

This is the first [a: Jennifer Jaynes|5337983|Jennifer Jaynes|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1419708844p2/5337983.jpg] title for me. [b: Don't Say A Word: Strangers Series|26850073|Don't Say a Word (Strangers Series)|Jennifer Jaynes|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1457038839s/26850073.jpg|46886828] is third in a series. The description of this novel was the hook. I prepared to have to catch up with the already developed characters, plots and subplots. There was no need to catch up, this novel stands well alone.
The minute my eyeballs landed on the first page, I was into the story. Knowing the publication date was the day coming, I had no problem engrossing myself in this story. The only negative I can give is that I stopped breathing the whole read!
There were times while in a Dr's waiting room that I cried out, "...and she is with your son right now!" There were, "Oh no, please not that!" I could not help it. Jennifer Jaynes is a good storyteller.
Every minute I felt like I was inside the house with Allie, Sammy and poor Bitty.
I am already scanning Amazon.com for the first two books of this series.
Thank you for the wild ride. Whew! ( )
