It's bad enough that Marty, the Beacon Street Girls' beloved pooch, has gone missing, but somehow the "little dude's" disappearance is creating tensions among the best friends. Was one of them to blame for Marty slipping out of his collar and running off? But when an opportunity to save High Hopes Riding Stable -- where Katani's bonded with a special horse -- conflicts with the chance to get Marty back from a surprising celebrity, the BSG might not all want the same thing. It's unthinkable -- but could Marty's disappearance break up the BSG?… (mehr)

This book was so much fun to read! I loved it! It has so much adventure, feelings, fun, and humor. You will laugh out loud at Annie Bryants’ characters witty thoughts and remarks, and you will be able to feel the rush of emotions going through the characters.

Here is a short summary of the book:

Avery is obsessed with Robbie Flores, a famous baseball player, and she accidentally loses Marty! Charlotte is heartbroken.(And pretty miffed at Avery). She lost her cat Orangina, her mother, and now Marty! Of course, it doesn't help that Miss Sapphire, the landlady of the beautiful Victorian house she lives in, has mysteriously disappeared, too.

Meanwhile, Katani is surprisingly enjoying herself at a therapeutic riding stable that she has to go to so she can help her autistic sister, Kelley. When Katani finds out High Hopes Stables is going bankrupt and will have to close down, she is crushed. After all, riding is the only sport Katani has ever been good at. She is so tired of always being compared to her super-athlete sisters, Candice and Patrice. Katani loves riding and she loves her gorgeous chestnut mare, Penelope.

Suddenly, a mysterious message is left by a man who apparently "found" Marty, but there has already been a mean joke left by someone claiming they found Marty. The BSG don't know who to trust!!!

The man from message hinted he would pay $10,000 to the BSG in return of keeping Marty. Maeve, Charlotte, and Avery instantly decide that Marty is not for sale, no matter how frappelicious the price, but Isabel and Katani are having second thoughts. Isabel's mother has multiple sclerosis, and 10,000 bucks sure would help pay the medical bills. And coincidentally, $10,00 is the exact amount High Hopes Stables needs to keep going.

Charlotte and Avery finally stop being mad each other, but now they are furious at Katani and Isabel! This predicament is tearing the Beacon Street Girls apart!

When they find out that Robbie Flores, who is extremely superstitious, considers Marty his "Lucky Charm" and will NOT give him up, they are flabbergasted.

Only through Charlotte's smart thinking do they get Marty back and determine that Robbie's "lucky charm" is really just a stuffed toy that Marty carries with him.

Unfortunately, the toy is very special to Marty and to Avery, who brought the toy home from Korea, where she was adopted from.

Luckily, Katani loves to sew and is very good at it. She is able to make a second little toy and offer it to Robbie Flores instead. He likes it even better than Marty's original toy, and he thinks it will be very lucky for him! In fact, he is so happy with it that he donates enough money to High Hopes Stables that they can get back on their feet!!! Katani is surprised and thrilled!

Join Charlotte, Maeve, Isabel, Avery and Katani on this wild and fun pandemonium of an adventure. I guarantee you will LOVE this book and you won't be able to put it down! ( )

Everyone in town is excited about the Brookline 300 Festival, and the Beacon Street Girls have made plans to meet up and experience the fun together.

On the day of the event, Charlotte decides to bring Marty, the BSG doggy mascot. Katani, who is unexpectedly forced to watch her autistic sister, Kelley, for the day, decides to bring her, too. Avery takes Marty over to the batting cages, and when Katani and Kelley show up, Marty scrambles out of Avery's duffel bag to run over to Kelley. However, a nearby squirrel distracts him, and, before the BSG know it, Marty is gone!

Accusations fly as Charlotte blames Avery, while Avery struggles to not break down over the dog's disappearance. The girls set up a website and put up fliers all over town, but turn up nothing but false hopes and wild goose chases. Finally, a lead pops up that might be legitimate, and the girls find themselves having to make a difficult choice.

Should they take the opportunity to save the special riding stable that helps people like Kelley, or is Marty too special to be bought for any price?

I loved the conflict in this particular BSG book. The author does a great job of showing multiple, legitimate sides to a difficult decision, and even demonstrated how solutions can be reached through everyday means. One does not need to be a fan of the series to appreciate this aspect. ( )
