Ross, T. (2015). I want a Bedtime Story! A little princess story. London, UK: Andersen Press.

This story begins with Little Princess sitting in bed, waiting for her bedtime story. Her father, the King, normally delivered her nightly story, but on this occasion the King was away. So the Queen told the Little Princess a bedtime story. Sadly, the Queen’s story was not the same as the story that the King usually told, so the Princess was not satisfied and she would absolutely, positively not go to bed. A line of other people came in and told the Little Princes stories, hoping it would please her and send her off to sleep, but none of their stories were the right story. Finally, the entire castle staff told the maid to go into the Princess and try. The maid, however, did not know any stories, but she knew where to find some. She led the Little Princess downstairs to the library and showed her that stories are inside books, and that the Princess could read them to herself. So they chose a large selection of books and the Princess crawled into bed to read them. She found the story her father always told her, and she knew it so well that she didn’t have any trouble reading it. The maid bade her goodnight and turned out the light, even as the Princess declared that she wanted to read all the rest of the books that night, too. This book is suitable for children ages 3-7 years. ( )
