My rating is 4 out of 5 stars.
Following closely on the heels of book one, Romeo’s Rules, Mike is approached by his friend Ira, a political candidate, and his manager and asked to join their team to discover who is responsible for spreading vicious rumors of infidelity about the candidate. At first he refuses, but his sense of getting justice for the innocent spurs him to accept the job.
Upon arrival in the opposition’s home city of San Francisco, Mike is immediately set upon by two miscreants. Mike easily subdues them, but they aren’t too willing to tell him who hired them. Mike meets the opposing candidate’s staff and faces the unwanted attraction he feels for the woman in charge of the campaign. As Mike continues his undercover investigations, he discovers a dead body with connections to the case and more lies than he can shake a stick at.
There are plenty of plot twists, witty and humorous conversations, and action to keep readers entertained. This fictional tale tells the story about the world of politics at its worst. Mike is a loner by choice while he wrestles with his past mistakes. Mike tells one of the characters that he is “on the fence” about God. The wonderful character of Sable might just change his mind.
