Lawson Monroe is a chef without a restaurant...but his friend and mentor makes a deathbed promise to leave Law the only dive bar on Mimosa Key. Law has big plans for the place, until he walks directly into the luscious body and gorgeous face of Libby Chesterfield and her outrageous claim that the Toasted Pelican should come to her. When Libby learned that the man who once owned the crappiest watering hole on the island was actually her biological father, she decided the least he owed her was his unclaimed business. The old man wasn't there for her when she and her brother were growing up near Barefoot Bay, but his legacy can help her build a new future when she transforms the property into Balance, a yoga studio. The only obstacle? Her father apparently named former bad boy and current sexy silver fox Lawless Monroe his heir. Law never thought he'd want anything more than the chance to make a living cooking his food for the people of Barefoot Bay...but Libby arouses an irresistible hunger in him. Battling an attraction that sizzles hotter than one of Law's cast-iron skillets and uncovering long-buried secrets with more twists than one of Libby's yoga poses, they'll have find a way to both get what they want...especially if what they really want is each other.… (mehr)

This series is advertised as being about sexy, hot, older men. But let's face it, Silver Foxes can always get hot girls of any age. The hero of this book, Lawson (aka Lawless, Law) is the poster boy of girl magnet power. What is amazing about this series is that these hot men actually fall in love with women their own age. Law has known Libby "Chesty" chesterfield since high school where he blew his chance with her when he blew off a date because he was drunk. Fast forward to the present when they meet at a high school reunion. Law is now a sous-chef at a local hotel and Libby is a twice-divorced yoga instructor. They both have designs on the local dive the Toasted Pelican.
As they work through their personal issues as well as business issues, their walls start to come down and they open themselves up to a real relationship they both are able to overcome the hurts of the past to work towards a future together.
This book goes to show that older people not only can have hot sexy relationships but that readers still want to see them do it. ( )

Mimosa Key may be small in size and population, but never lacks in personality. In Barefoot Bay the beauty of the location is overshadowed only my the overpowering since of community. Arms are open wide in welcome and caring is in abundance. In a world full of angry words and unnecessary violence Ms. St. Claire uses her imagination to create a beacon of hope, the ideal Utopia. Barefoot at Midnight is a story of sacrifice. Law and Libby are dreamers that have had their hearts battered by life. Can one deathbed promise and a piece of property make their dreams into the start of something wonderful? Roxanne St. Claire must be doing something right. Barefoot Bay is the perfect destination for finding the heart's desire. A dream come true. ( )
