Lovely book, illustrated with pen and ink and watercolor, an calligraphic type. Written in rhyme, it explores the start of a seed to tree, and detailed illustrations showcase the intersections of living things in the tree's ecosystem. Fold out at the end has information and vocabulary opposite a three-page-illustration.

This book does a great job explaining how a seed grows into a tree. It will be a great book to read aloud to a class or an individual.
Plus my favorite part;
really lovely illustrations.
Enjoy! ( )

An excellent little bedtime book. This one does a lovely job of appreciating the landscape, using poetic language to move you through the seasons and a surprise fold out page to end the show. With just the right illustrations and gold foil, this is a favorite in our nursery. ( )

I LOVED this book. The illustrations are really beautiful and the best part about this book is that each illustration is very large and you're able to clearly see each stage of the growth of a plant. The book is written as a poem, so it flows very well and I think the way it's written makes students really anticipate what is next to come. I think this would be an awesome book to use to talk about the stages of plant growth from seedling to tree. The whole poem is listed out at the back and the author provides a few facts about the tree that is illustrated in the story. Also I love that the poem has questions such as, "It starts with a seed but where does it lead?" and "How can something so small turn into a tree,which is such an incredibly BIG thing to be?" These questions are ones that you could pose to a class before you read the book or before you start a unit on the growth of a plant. Also I think this book does a really good job explaining what each part of a tree does, so I think it would be a great resource for students to use to identify the characteristics of each part of a tree.
