Nerdy, introverted genius lepidopterist, Lawson Gale, is an expert on butterflies. He finds himself in a small town in Tasmania on a quest from an old professor to find an elusive species that may or may not even exist. Local Parks and Wildlife officer, Jack Brighton, is an ordinary guy who loves his life in the sleepy town of Scottsdale. Along with his Border collie dog, Rosemary, his job, and good friends, he has enough to keep from being lonely. But then he meets Lawson, and he knows he's met someone special. There's more to catching butterflies, Jack realizes. Sometimes the most elusive creatures wear bow ties, and sometimes they can't be caught at all. Lawson soon learns there are butterflies he can't learn about it in books. They exist only in a touch, in a kiss, in a smile. He just has to let go first, so these butterflies can fly. Imago is the story of finding love, bow ties, and butterflies. Contains mature themes.… (mehr)

I wish I'd written my comments right after finishing this book. I fell in love with it and I would have spouted all sorts of words of devotion! It was pure and sweet. I ate it up.

It doesn't even matter to record the name of the characters unless you count Tasmania as a character - such a perfect place for such an otherworldly story - a search for a mythical butterfly at the end of the earth.

This is my 7th NR Walker who is shockingly underrepresented in Australian libraries (in audiobook form). Nothing had eclipsed the first one of hers I'd read, Private Charter, but this one might just have pipped it! Private Charter is pure cheekiness, this one, pure sweetness. ( )

This is a book of sweetness. You can tell just from reading the excerpt on amazon, so that's just confirmation that yes, even through adversity they stay sweet. The adversity is really well done, too, that was my favorite part. It is also, surprisingly, why I didn't give five stars. Everything's too easy, except that one thing, and that's fine, it's a perfectly good book particularly if that's what a reader needs. For me, that challenge to them that they came through so beautifully made me hungry for more. It told me there are depths to them we'll never see. It would've made this a stronger story.

Just one reader's opinion, nothing more. (Or less.) ( )

The story of Imago starts with Dr. Lawson Gale coming to the small town of Scottsdale to search for an elusive butterfly. There he meets the local Parks and Wildlife officer Jack Brighton and their connection is instant. Their dates are so cute and amazing involving, flowers, pastries, picnics in the backyard and so much more. They also work together trying to find the butterfly and navigating the terrain. Jack is a nice, adorable man who is happy with his small town life but now craves more with Lawson. Lawson maybe socially awkward due to being such a young genius, but he can be sassy and loving too. Their dynamic is absolute fun to read about - they have intelligent conversations about their passions and generally about wildlife conservation - and I just loved reading such smart discussions in a romance novel.

After reading a few novellas written by N. R. Walker, I have come to the conclusion that she writes the sweetest romances. The characters are awesome, they are wonderful together, the angst is low and these stories just make you happy and feel good. ( )

It was too short for the characters or plot to have any kind of depth, and it was cavity sweet and insta-love. Which is all fine if you're in the mood for that kind of story. I wasn't though. So, you know... meh :/ ( )
