Artwork in pencil, ink, handmade textures, and digital media shows the stark little black and white penguins with their orange beaks and feet surrounded by ice and blue sea the color of sky. (The endpapers are also beautiful, pale purple and white sweater-pattern.) The story is about penguins who wear sweaters after an oil spill, so it's cute (penguins in sweaters) but horrifying (oil spill ruining natural environments).
