I really gave this book 4.5 stars* I really enjoyed the premise and this book a lot. I went to a mostly all girl school and the dynamics in this book reminded me of all female college. I also went to this school as it was going to coed and the male presence def rang true for me. I just loved the use of past and present to tell the story. I loved the focus on female friendship and the focus on the job. I did like the romance but it was def not the focus of the book. I found it to be a super fun read, and reminded me so much of college days. The book had some predictable moments but i still read it so fast! I enjoyed this, particularly Amelia’s experiments in ice cream making though it’s really the ending that bumped this up to four stars for me. I was lukewarm about the romance but I did like Grady and the issues he went through with his dad, how those things weren’t easily resolved. I also wasn’t in love with Amelia’s friendship with Cate, at least not at first, that was one of the aspects of the book that took until close to the end to evolve in a satisfying way. The evolution of that friendship very much tied into the evolution of Amelia herself which was by far my favorite aspect of this book and why I loved the ending, it was a pleasure to see this girl who had been pushed around a bit come into her own. Fun reading about both the history of ice cream making and a famous ice cream stand revolves around current friendship and romantic drama and vivid diary entries from World War II. From Day One at The Meade Creamery Stand, the story is full of surprises. Confidence building for Grady and Amelia takes a really long time. Way too much product and Walmart (unfair to workers) branding is unwelcome. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
