Unsinkable is written by Jessica Long herself. She was born with a fibular hemimelia in both of her legs which led to her having both legs amputated below the knees. She was originally born in Russia, with a different name and was adopted when she was only 13 months old. She was the youngest to win a gold medal in the Paralympic at the age of 12. She never gave up and always dedicated herself and worked hard. In the end, she competed in 4 Olympic games.

This book shows you real life photos, that although some may find difficult to look at. The pictures are very inspiring and show you how full of life she was despite her disability.

Jessica Long is an inspiration to everyone. She took a bad situation and made the very best out of it. She worked hard and she never gave up. With her dedication and perseverance she was able to make a name for herself and inspire others along the way. ( )

Jessica Long presents her strongest memories, sometimes out of chronological order, in an engaging and youthful format perfect for reluctant readers and fans of the sport. With an emphasis on hard work, determination, and her Christian faith, Long's inspirational memoirs about her Paralympic swimming career make a fine addition to any teen library in need of sports or religious biographies. The colorful pages are fun to read, though the text can be a little hard to decipher against the bright backgrounds. Long does some pretty star-powered name-dropping, and her training schedule is sure to make your jaw drop. ( )
