This book follows Cece and her endeavors to come up with a scientific question for her science fair project. When she finally comes up with one, she and her best friend Isaac start doing experiments and collecting their data. This book introduces students to the scientific method and conducting experiments in a fun and understandable way. ( )

This is a great book for students because it includes a female of an underrepresented group as the main character in a steam book, which is important for all students to see. Furthermore, it talks about students working together to come up with an idea of a science experiment. The idea of fair tests and valuable things to explore comes up. Cece is always wondering things but she can not decide what she wants to explore in her science experiment, until one night at dinner she decides she wants to do her experiment on if dogs like vegetables or not. I think this part of the story is really important for students because it shows that they can discover anything around them even if it is silly. They can use every day things to learn more. This might inspire students to want to do all sorts of experiments in their day to day life, which is valuable to elicit, especially in young students. ( )

This book describes the love of science by a young female scientist. The book follows an assignment made by her teacher and the experiment of Cece and her friend. I found this book is able to intrigue readers as well as teach as you read, there are words that are defined as well as the progression of the experiment is highlighted. This would be an excellent read for a class or individual students in a science classroom. ( )

Summary:
This book is about Cece, Cece loves science. Cece and her friend have to do a science project for school. They have to brainstorm ideas. Then Cece comes up with a scientific question. Does her dog, Einstein, eat vegetables. Cece and her friend try all combinations to see if they can trick Einstein into eating the vegetables but he doesn't. Then, Einstein tries to eat Cece's bananas in her banana split at dinner. Einstein seems to really like bananas so Cece and her friend blend up bananas and vegetables and Einstein eats them. Cece can conclude her research. She also concludes that science isn't always about finding the right answer right away but having fun in the process.

Age appropriate:
K-3rd

Review:
This book does a great job of introducing the scientific process to students. This book represents women in science both through Cece, her science teacher, and some of the scientists they are learning about in class. ( )
